The layout of the development was organised around the idea of creating a series of mixed use neighbourhoods, each with their own facilities within their own public places at the centre. Each neighbourhood was kept to a limited size so as to be just a five minute walk from the centre making its inhabitants feels close to their local centre of activity. This allows for a more sustainable development where life is not totally dependant on the use of the motor car.
The practice advises local authorities on issues of sustainability in urban design.
