Parkridge developments won the bid and were chosen to develop the central area in partnership with Solihull Metropolitan Council. The Masterplan for the central area contains 246 residential units, 1360 m2 of retail space and 1000 m2 B1 space, arranged along a high street with a major square at the northern end and a marina basin on the Stratford and Avon Canal to the south. The central area was divided into 28 urban blocks and four architects were commissioned to work with Parkridge in developing the detail of the design. John Simpson & Partners, as one of the four teams of architects, were responsible for 6 urban blocks of residential and retail use, and for the major public elements within the scheme, the community hall, the public library and the medical centre.
