Avon House

London, UK

Avon House occupies the site of what was previously a School built adjacent to the Grade II Listed Kensington United Reform Church. The design approach for Avon House pulls on an in-depth study of the history of the area, which has revealed that the School that previously occupied the site can be used to reference proportions and principles for design. The School that once stood on the site clearly illustrates a scale, bulk and massing in-keeping with the surrounding townscape, and the architectural character that once complimented the Church. By adopting this approach a new building of architectural and townscape merit has been developed, providing a positive enhancement to Allen Street and the Conservation Area more generally.
